Happy Queens Birthday from Warhol’s Children While we’re all doffing our hats and tugging at our forelocks for HRH EII’s birthday, we’d like to commemorate the day by recognising the real queen of England - Quentin Crisp.

Quentin Crisp was an English writer and raconteur. From a conventional suburban background, Crisp grew up as the campest thing in sexually repressed Britain. Or as Wikipedia tells us “… flaunted by parading the streets in make-up and painted nails, and working as a rent-boy.” Quentin was out, loud and proud during some of England’s most sexually conservative times, in a very real way Quentin became the most public face of the gay rights movement in the UK; Quentin Crisp, 25 December 1908 – 21 November 1999 - RIP Quentin and remembering the respect we owe you on this Queens Birthday long weekend. Need a little support coming out? these people are brilliant: http://au.reachout.com/Wellbeing/Personal-Identity/Sexuality?gclid=CN3kmvuV0bcCFUVZpQodknQAUw
