OK, it’s real. This is happening. But while Guy-Manuel and Thomas, aka protective-head-gear donning musical prodigies Daft Punk, won’t actually be in this relatively unheard of New South Wales town, their long-awaited eagerly- anticipated *insert other synonyms that express what Magwitch had for Pip, i.e. GREAT EXPECTATIONS!* album Random Access Memories will be launched at the 79th annual Wee Waa show! In less than a month – Friday the 17TH of May! The French electro-house sensations will awe the Wee Waa crowd with their genius before anyone else in the world. THE WORLD, people! And if their new release single ‘Get Lucky’ is anything to go by this record is going to be a hot damn hoot!! A HOOT I tell ye!!!
Their first album in 8 years, it seems completely incomprehensible as to why Daft Punk will be debuting their new album alongside the horse shows, clown troupe and demolition derby … did we mention the mouse racing …? (You know, that actually kinda sounds awesome …)
Right. So we have what is perhaps the most significant cultural event of the decade happening – and what? They’re just going to debut the album and at the end of it the crowd will simply disperse wandering aimlessly as they attempt to find a suitable outlet/environment/place/crowd of like-minded music obsessed people to express the euphoria that has just been poured into their ears?
This begs the question: WHY ISN’T SOMEONE PUTTING ON A FESTIVAL?!
Yaldi Boomtime! Presents WEEKEND VINES [WEE WAA CAMPING FESTIVAL]
